I created schoology-improved because Schoology itself is missing features, and there are no plans to create those features. I teach at EPI in Aruba, and every year I have hundreds of new students. The students are divided over several classes, which I divide into grading groups. Schoology does not allow filters by grading group. Also grading groups have to be created manually one by one. In schoology-improved all of this can be done automatically. You can download assignment submissions by student, by group or all at once. You can also create groups, delete groups, and view groups.

I am the creator of QuizBaker, an open source project to help with people using Articulate QuizMaker. It interfaces with the online quizzes to create a database of quizzes, questions and answers.
