Join the mailing list (pypy-dev@python.org) or hop on IRC (#pypy on freenode). First step will be downloading the code (http://bitbucket.org/pypy/pypy) and making sure you can run some tests.

Our documentation isn't well organized at the moment, and doesn't take advantage of a lot off the cross-referencing features that Sphinx gives us.
