2reviewing patches
There are a lot of patches in Roundup that need to be reviewed. There aren't enough people reviewing patches, so some patches tend to sit around for a long time.
The Python wiki has a page on Issue workflow that also talks about how to review patches. It's at http://www.python.org/dev/workflow/ .

1ways to help out that don't involve writing code
There's a Helping Out section in the How Python Is Developed page in the Python wiki that walks through different ways to help in non-code-writing ways. It's at at http://www.python.org/dev/intro/#helping-out . If you're interested in helping out, check here.
