Q: Other than writing code, how can I contribute?

0User Documentation
We miss someone with talent for video editing and such to show the world how awesome our software is. Really.

0Bug triage
look at an open bug, and check if it still applies to the version it was reported against, or the trunk.
Then comment about it working (or not) on your machine.
This would be a great task off our backs, which would allow us to write more code.

Q: What's a good bug for a newcomer to tackle?
-
0Easy feature: 'new' button
This feature request: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3017039&group_id=61223&atid=496521
has been here for some time, and its implementation is beyond trivial.

Q: What is a bug or issue with Tulip that you've been putting off, neglecting, or just plain avoiding?
-
0Some bugs are never closed.
These bugs are not correctly labeled, and it sometime is difficult to get which ones happen in which situation.
