  • Q: I'd like to participate. How do I begin?

    • 0

The are some tutorials and help on hot to set up a windows environment on the website, and how to set up an Ubuntu machine is explained in our README.

To checkout the source, follow the instructions over at sourceforge.

To get help, look for us on IRC #Tulip on freenode, or on our sourcefor forums.

      User Documentation

We miss someone with talent for video editing and such to show the world how awesome our software is. Really.

      Bug triage

look at an open bug, and check if it still applies to the version it was reported against, or the trunk.
Then comment about it working (or not) on your machine.
This would be a great task off our backs, which would allow us to write more code.

      Website administration/Design

We currently use a CMS to handle the website, but its design could use some love.

      • Tip:

Discuss documentation, testing, webmastering, and/or publicity.

Include URLs if relevant (we'll automatically linkify them).

      • Example:

We need people to download version 0.4.5 and make sure the frobulator still frobulates correctly.

      Easy feature: 'new' button

      This feature request: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3017039&group_id=61223&atid=496521
has been here for some time, and its implementation is beyond trivial.

      • Tip:

Many projects have good small tasks that can teach newcomers how the project works. Now's your chance to share one of them!

Include URLs if relevant (we'll automatically linkify them).

      • Example:

Someone could improve the photo upload dialog box so that it lets you resize the photo before sending it to the web.

  • Q: What is a bug or issue with Tulip that you've been putting off, neglecting, or just plain avoiding?

    • 0
      Some bugs are never closed.

These bugs are not correctly labeled, and it sometime is difficult to get which ones happen in which situation.

      • Examples:

I don't know how to get started with internationalizing my app.

Bug 392 about printing was filed five years ago, and I don't even know if printing still works.

I want help from a C coder writing a Maildir patch for Alpine.

      • Note:

If this issue was formally filed on the web, be sure to include the URL.
