      Testing and bug reporting

We need people to download the latest builds (or, if you're feeling adventurous, the latest code from source control) and test for bugs and usability. If you find any then please report them in our bug tracking system (http://warfoundry.co.uk/development/query)

      Community advocate/evangelist

We're in a market against a very well known application (that hideous looking one with the non-standard widgets that only really works on Windows and that has threatened legal action over generic phrases). Because of this we need people to spread the word - there is an alternative that is free as in beer and speech and it needs your help!

      Translators

The WarFoundry UIs should all be translatable, allowing the app to be readable for any locale that has a translation file. Ticket 203 (http://dev.ibboard.co.uk/projects/warfoundry/ticket/203) collects together all of our contributed translations and we're always looking for more.

      Documentation

Most of WarFoundry's documentation is kept on the Wiki pages and is currently developer oriented. We try to cover data file creation as well, but users are left to explore the application themselves. Any documentation to help newcomers would greatly help the project!

      Graphics and UI

Developers can create applications that they understand, but accessibility and usability for other users is often hit or miss. Suggestions, creations and mock-ups of better usability will help make WarFoundry more accessible to more users.

      • Tip:

Discuss documentation, testing, webmastering, and/or publicity.

Include URLs if relevant (we'll automatically linkify them).

      • Example:

We need people to download version 0.4.5 and make sure the frobulator still frobulates correctly.

  • Q: What's a good bug for a newcomer to tackle?

      "Papercuts" are small tasks

Following the Ubuntu naming idea (which is quite accurate), any tasks tagged "papercut" (http://dev.ibboard.co.uk/projects/warfoundry/tags?q='papercut') should be a small task that doesn't involve too much in-depth knowledge - the perfect task for a newcomer to get familiar with.

      • Tip:

Many projects have good small tasks that can teach newcomers how the project works. Now's your chance to share one of them!

Include URLs if relevant (we'll automatically linkify them).

      • Example:

Someone could improve the photo upload dialog box so that it lets you resize the photo before sending it to the web.

  • Q: What is a bug or issue with WarFoundry that you've been putting off, neglecting, or just plain avoiding?

What else do you want to talk about?
