Projects
Project Byzantium is a live distribution of LInux which makes it fast and easy to set up ad-hoc wireless mesh networks in spaces where Internet access is either non-existent (the Katrina Problem) or sufficiently compromised that it is unworkable or dangerous to use (the Egypt Problem). Byzantium Linux is designed to run on any wifi-enabled x86 computer and provides functional replicas of services used by activists and community organizers to find one another, exchange information, and organize. The intended use case of Byzantium Linux involves wifi-enabled mobile devices (like smartphones and MP3 players) as clients.
I am one of the core developers of Project Byzantium: I wrote and maintain the distribution's web control panel. I am also one of the project's system architects and some of my tasks involve threat modeling and developing a security posture for the distribution.
