bio

Internet Computer Science undergrad at St Andrews University. Graduating May 2010. Music is my passion. I love to create it, to hear it, to appreciate the awesome power it has over people's moods and emotions. The internet is full of music. You just have to know where to look. So I want to develop an open source app for searching and streaming/downloading from all music services (YouTube, Spotify, Rapidshare, etc).

    A Doom WAD Editor.

The WAD file is Doom's resource format. It contains all the maps, sprites, sounds, and so on.

XWE lets you view and edit the contents of these WAD files.

A long time ago, back when I was Doom addict, I got curious enough about Doom to have a look at the format of its WAD files. From the Doomworld forums I learned that XWE was a good tool for the job, so I checked it out.

It's so long ago now that I don't remember exactly, but I think there was a bug with the image viewer when looking at large textures. I emailed the developer about it, and he fixed the problem.

I was surprised to discover that I got a credit in the changelog of the next release:

    "2004.01.23
Image editor: Loading large images don't use sprite align [requested by beezee88]"

beezee88 was my Doomworld forums handle. That's not exactly what I requested, but he fixed whatever the problem was anyway, after I reported it!
